Devlog. The art of getting there

Hello again!

We’re nearing the date of the new alpha, so it’s time to revisit the upcoming changes (and touch on previously unmentioned ones).

As pointed out earlier, we’ve addressed the current state of jumping. Long story short, the jumps before were structured in a way that the game took the body of the player and moved it correspondingly to the jump. Another way would be to thrust the player instead. Instead, we settled on a hybrid method that so far feels just right in terms of the length and the feel of the jump. There is a rare bug where a jump might not be registered, but the occurrence of it is something that still remains to be seen.

We’re absolutely delighted with the new UI, and hopefully you will be too. Not much to add except for the screenshots below.

Boss level has been completed and thoroughly tested. To fight DemoMan you will use the familiar setting of the second level to reach the previously unexplored hangar where the fight will take place. Please let us know what you think of the boss fight once you get a chance to experience it!

Another new level has been added right after the first two to combat the sharp increase in difficulty seen before. It features the hub and serves to explain the basics of the Omnicluster itself, as well as the Side Gigs.

Speaking of level adjustments, we’ve decided to rename Omnicluster sectors. Now they’re called after the Greek Alphabet letters, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Theta, and Tau. This was done primarily to alleviate confusion. You see, before (if you haven’t noticed) sector number was tied in to the number of the level in the game itself. However, by new levels in the middle the order goes out of sync.

We also have a special musical treat for you. A brand new soundtrack written specifically for the game can be heard throughout the Omnicluster!

Lastly, one of the things the players seemed to want more are the coins. You can never have enough money, right? We heard you and introduced two different denominations of coins. A bronze coin is now worth 1 unit of money, while the gold is worth 5 units. We’ve also added a radiating halo so that spotting the coins would be slightly easier. Hopefully, this adjustment will make the game more enjoyable without breaking the “economy” of the game.

Expect the new release in the following days. In the meantime let us know how you feel about the upcoming update!

Thank you and happy delivering!
